Dear friend,
Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter and reading my books.
The weather’s cooling. Halloween’s in the rear-view mirror. Fall is here, and that means the holidays are around the corner–hooray!
Since I was starting to feel the spirit, I did a little shopping today at the Balsam Hill Outlet. Ooh, boy, that was fun. It was bustling with people, too. Apparently, I’m not the only one getting excited!
One of my annual traditions is to share my favorite holiday dessert recipe with readers. It’s time to do it again!
I’ve been making this apple crisp for decades now. It fulfills my basic requirements perfectly, specifically:
- Delicious (especially hot, but also when cold–and above all, when served with ice cream(!!))
- Full of holiday spice (a culinary reminder of happy holidays past)
- No nuts (no offense to nut lovers, but I’m a purist)
- No oatmeal (see previous bullet)
To learn how to make it, visit this page.
Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving yet? What’s on your to-do list? Drop me a note if you’re so inclined.

PS — don’t forget to scroll down to the promo box. What’s cozier when the weather’s chilly than curling up with a new, cozy read?
